I really like that poem, by the way. You have created an effective eyeline using the chain and the cards (thay is what they are?) in the wavy line. this "line" brings the eye into the picture. The shoes as the subject are really good, the colour shines, but is dull, therefore not overpowering the picture and ruining the simplicity.

I'm glad you think the red is red enough...I'm going to try do another version with a brighter red and see what happens, but this is more of a shoe-red colour...?

Mmm. Not clicking in my head - Dorothy wore sand? Referring to hourglass sand?

But prettyful. The gold kinda overwhelms the red, maybe if you desaturated the gold a bit so the ruby stands out? Not a lot, just a bit.
